STUDENT UNIFORMS

As a Christian school we encourage the beauty of a child’s character, spirit and behavior. We choose to regulate and exemplify modesty and good taste in all our adornment.

All students are required to wear official Life Academy Uniforms purchased from our authorized vendor, Educational Outfitters. This includes all tops, bottoms, jumpers and P.E. wear.

No excessive jewelry or make-up; no unnatural hair color or extreme hairstyles, i.e. lines, designs, initials, etc. Boys should not wear jewelry of any kind except watches.  Girl’s jewelry should be minimal (2 – 3 bracelets, 1 – 2 earrings)

• Official school uniforms must be worn daily. Note below the appropriate dress for Physical Education and Chapel days.
• Shirts must be tucked in at all times while on school campus.
• Belts must be worn if belt loops are present.
• Official chapel uniforms must be worn on Fridays.
• Skirts should be no shorter than the top of the knee when seated.
• No thongs or thong-type sandals may be worn.
• Boys are to wear solid black shoes, only; no black and white shoes. No high-top shoes or sneakers.
• Boys must wear socks (not “footies”) at all times. Socks should be visible above the top of the shoes.
• Girls should wear closed-in black shoes (no sandals or boots). No white or other color shoes are to be worn. No high-top shoes.
• Girls should wear socks (not “footies”) or other appropriate hose each day.  Socks should be visible above the top of the shoes.
• Boys are not allowed to wear afros (+1 inch), braids, dreads, or any other hair style that the administration deems inappropriate.

All Students are to be in official TLA Physical Education uniforms on each designated P.E. day. P.E. uniforms are to be purchased from our authorized vendor and have The Life Academy of Excellence logo on the appropriate items. Twenty-five percent of the student’s grade is derived from their adherence to the uniform policy, so noncompliance to this rule may result in an undesirable Physical Education grade.

• All boys are to wear ties and white or burgundy striped oxford shirts and slacks on Chapel Days. (no shorts)
• All girls are to wear either a jumper or a skirt on Chapel days. (no pants or shorts)

Students who do not comply with the dress requirements of TLA will receive a “Uniform Violation” and may be sent to the office to await the delivery of the correct uniform item. Three or more violations may result in a Detention and/or parent conference.

• Boys:  Black or khaki slacks, Life Academy polo shirt (the short or long sleeve polo shirt from Educational Outfitters is acceptable).  Long sleeve shirts are not to be worn underneath short sleeve polo or chapel shirts.  Burgundy jogging pants are acceptable for P.E. only.
• Girls:  Girls will continue to wear the same attire as usual, adding either black or khaki slacks.  Long sleeve shirts are also not to be worn underneath short sleeve shirts.  Tights are acceptable, but tights worn are to be closed-toe not the tights that come to mid-calf.
• Jackets are to be either black or brown.  Hooded and pull over jackets or sweaters are not acceptable attire for Life Academy students.
